The premiere of an educational film regarding repressions during occupation “Under foreign rule: repressions in occupied <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Estonia 1940-1991” is introduced in the cinema Sõprus today at 14:30.


In the film that is made under the leadership of Memento (the association of injudicially repressed people in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Estonia) and with the help of pecuniary aid from the Ministry of Justice people suffered from repressions are talking about their experience. In addition archival material and documentary shots have been used as basic material for the film. The authors of the film are Mart Taevere and Hendrik Reinla.

The 40 minutes long educational film is intended to support the syllabus of IX and XII grades of Estonian recent history. Copies of the film will be sent into every basic school and grammar school of Estonia; a translated version will be made for schools with Russian teaching language. The Ministry of Justice sponsored the film-making with 355 000 kroons.

The Prime Minister Juhan Parts and the former president of the committee of repressed people Ken-Marti Vaher, representatives of the association Memento and filmmakers themselves take part in today’s premiere. Pupils from IX and XII grades of Tallinn schools have been invited to look the film as a test group.
